Journeys in Côn Đảo

Côn Đảo is an archipelago of 16 islands, large and small. Côn Sơn is the largest, home to the main town, Bến Đầm port and the airport. Since July 1, 2025, Côn Đảo has been a special administrative zone of Ho Chi Minh City; before that it was an island district of Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu province.

Much of the forest and surrounding sea belongs to Côn Đảo National Park. Walking under the forest canopy, snorkeling around the smaller islands, or waiting for mother turtles to come ashore during the nesting season (roughly April to October) are the nature experiences that draw many visitors here.

Côn Đảo is also a place of remembrance. The prison relics, Hàng Dương Cemetery and the grave of Võ Thị Sáu are where many people come to pay their respects. When visiting these sites, please dress modestly and keep a respectful quiet.

There are two common ways to reach the islands: a flight to Côn Đảo airport, or a fast ferry from Vũng Tàu or Trần Đề. Ferry schedules depend on the weather, so book early and check for notices before your trip.
